About Us
Our Story
Sunaura has been supplying the beauty and makeup industry since 1981, when we began as a wholesale distributor to the health and beauty trade. We became the exclusive Irish and UK distributor for Mila d'Opiz Swiss Beauty, a multi-award-winning salon skincare brand, and from there expanded naturally into professional makeup — first for beauty salons, then for colleges, and eventually for film and television productions as the demand for specialist supplies grew.
Today, Sunaura is Ireland's leading one-stop shop for professional film and special effects makeup, and one of the largest suppliers in the EU. We have supplied productions including Vikings: Valhalla, Wednesday, House of David, Young Offenders and The Mummy, to name just a few recent examples. As well as our film offering, we continue to serve the full professional beauty industry, from beauty salons and makeup artistry colleges to individual makeup artists and beauty enthusiasts.
We are a family business — founded by Josephine Walsh and now run by her daughter, Claire Kenny. We pride ourselves on being approachable, knowledgeable and genuinely helpful. We care about the environment too: we source packaging sustainably, reuse all packaging from our suppliers, and try to support local and European brands wherever we can.

We are the exclusive Irish and UK distributor for Mila d'Opiz, a Swiss salon skincare brand with a wide treatment and retail range, suitable for all skin types. We are also the Irish distributor for PhD Safewax, widely regarded as the most hygienic waxing system available. We also stock eyelash tint, Rubis tweezers, couch rolls, gloves and salon disposables.

We are Ireland's largest and most comprehensive supplier of film makeup and special effects products, with the widest selection of specialist film brands in the EU. We supply throughout the EU with no customs barriers, and cover UK customs fees so delivery is seamless. We stock prosthetic materials, postiche, face and body paints, character and casualty makeup, and materials for costume and set decoration.

Non-professionals are very welcome to order from us. We have a wide range of products suitable for Halloween, cosplay, social media looks, personal beauty and camouflage makeup — no trade account required.
How to Order
You can order on the website, by telephone, by email, or by visiting our trade showroom in person (Monday–Friday, 9.30am–5pm). We are based in Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow — conveniently located between Ardmore Studios in Bray and Ashford Studios in North Wicklow. Our showroom is purpose-built, with a full display of our product range as well as a training and seminar area for occasional masterclasses and demos.
